BREAKING: Former coach of the New Zealand Warriors is set for a comeback.

Nathan Brown Resigns as Warriors Coach; Stacey Jones Takes Over

Coach Nathan Brown has resigned from the Warriors, with Stacey Jones stepping in for the remainder of the NRL season.

Brown’s departure, announced on June 7, 2022, comes after a difficult season where the Warriors are 14th on the NRL table with four wins from 13 games and a five-game losing streak. Brown cited family reasons for his decision not to relocate to New Zealand long-term.

Warriors CEO Cameron George expressed understanding and support for Brown’s decision, acknowledging his hard work and dedication to the club. He emphasized the need for an immediate change in the club’s best interests.

Stacey Jones, a long-time player and coach for the Warriors, will assume the head coach role for the last 11 rounds, starting with the upcoming game against Cronulla-Sutherland. Jones has been with the club in various capacities for nearly 25 years and has a deep connection to the Warriors.

Jones played 261 games for the Warriors from 1995 to 2005 and again in 2009 after a stint with Les Catalans in the Super League. He has held several coaching positions within the club, including pathways manager, Junior Warriors coach, and NRL assistant coach.

George expressed gratitude for Jones stepping into the interim role and stated that he would work with owner Mark Robinson on the process to appoint a new head coach.
