Wests Tigers have up to 90 days to spare their otherworldly Leichhardt Oval domestic after caution they would stopped the scene by propelling a stadium financing war against NRL rivals Penrith and the NSW government.
Tigers chief official Shane Richardson and Inward West Board Chairman Darcy Byrne went on the hostile on Monday, arguing with NSW Head Chris Minns to divert a 10 per cent cut of financing distributed to Penrith’s $309 million face-lift.
Penrith are set to start redoing Jaguars Stadium another season.
But Byrne said the ‘Eighth Ponder of the World’, which has hosted A-League, NRL and acted as a preparing setting at final year’s Women’s World Glass, was in frantic require of an update.
‘Leichhardt Oval hasn’t gotten any financing from the state government since Benji Marshall was in nappies,’ Byrne said.
