Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry told reporters on Monday that he supported a trade with the Houston Texans, who signed Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson in March 2022, but this is a 10-year deal.
It will be evaluated as a period of time,” Berry explained.

“Of course we want him to be on the pitch more often than ever.
He won’t be able to recover from his shoulder injury this year, but we’re really happy with him.
He’s very talented, very hardworking, very adaptable, and we’re very happy with that.
” Berry and the rest of the Browns decided against starting signal-caller Baker Mayfield after Mayfield suffered a serious injury to his non-throwing shoulder during the 2021 season.
Ultimately, Cleveland sent three first-round draft picks and other assets to Houston to acquire Watson, and the club then signed him to a historic, fully guaranteed, five-year, $230 million contract..
Watson has played in just 12 regular-season games for the Browns so far after missing the first 11 games of the 2022 season after being suspended for allegations of sexual misconduct during a massage session.
He was most recently sidelined with a shoulder injury last November.
“(We) feel very good about him and are pleased with the progress he has made within our organization both on and off the field,” Berry added of Watson.
“And we’re looking forward to bringing him back next year.
We think he’s going to have a really great year and have a lot of confidence in him as our starting quarterback.
Berry’s comments suggest the club is still betting on Watson heading into the third year of a partnership that has so far given the Browns more than a “what if.
” question.
