One of the top free agent starters is still looking for a new home.
Former New York Yankees, St.
Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers hurler Jordan Montgomery is one of the hottest free agent pitchers this offseason.
However, Montgomery has not yet found a new home.
The fact that he’s looking for a big deal and that free agency is so late is why he’s still available.
According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, a deal is certain to occur at some point in the not-too-distant future, with the Boston Red Sox, Yankees, and Rangers among the teams expressing interest in a potential deal.
It’s called Tsuda.
“A local barbecue joint near Globe Life Field also played a role in drawing Montgomery back to Texas by offering the left-handed pitcher free barbecue for life if he rejoined the Rangers,” Feinsand said.
said.
“So why didn’t it happen?
Montgomery could be a victim of a market that seems hesitant to make big deals outside of the (Los Angeles Dodgers).
The Rangers make the most sense for Montgomery, who has also been linked with the Yankees, Red Sox, (Philadelphia Phillies), (Los Angeles Angels) and (San Francisco Giants) in recent weeks.
A reunion between Montgomery and the Yankees seems a long way off at this point, but other clubs may still be in the game.
Still, a return to Texas remains the most logical and likely conclusion for Montgomery’s free agency.
Signing a player like Montgomer would be a great addition for Boston this offseason, but there will likely be a lot of competition for him.
It’s also unclear how much money the Red Sox intend to spend.
