Arsenal were rumored to be making a move to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich, but it was decided this month that a move would not be possible.
The Gunners are expected to complete at least one deal for him this window.
They could use additional players in several areas of the pitch, including in central defence.
However, Dean Jones insists De Ligt will not join Arsenal in the winter window.

Matthijs de Ligt will not join Arsenal in January

Links with a number of defenders have been rumored in recent weeks The Gunners have an excellent central defensive partnership in Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba.
Both have been sensational for Arsenal since the start of last season.
However, if either of them fails, Mikel Arteta will be in trouble.
Jakub Kivioglu is a decent player but has been linked with a move away from the Emirates.
Ben White could move into a central role, but his replacement, right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu, has been plagued by injuries and is unreliable.
To make matters worse, Julian Timber is still injured and unlikely to return this month.
A new centre-back is rumored to be a potential addition to Arsenal and Bayern Munich star Matthijs de Ligt.
However, Dean Jones believes there is “no chance” of the £68million man moving this month (Sky Sports).

He told GiveMeSport: : “If you think about future partners for Saliba, there probably aren’t many better partners than De Ligt,” but that’s certainly an interesting target for her.
“However, Arsenal are primarily focused on this January window and are unlikely to sign De Ligt at this time.

The Gunners’ problem so far this season has not been their defence.
They have his second best defensive record in the Premier League.
Their main problem was scoring goals.
Arteta’s side have scored the fewest goals of any of the current top five in the league, but that is completely out of the question if they want to win the title this season.
A new defender could be important, but as things stand I think Arsenal should focus on signing a goalscorer over the next four weeks.
