Just a Minute with Alabama QB Commit Jett Thomalla

Alabama’s newest quarterback commit, Jett Thomalla, made a guest appearance on The Joe Gaither Show to talk about his recruitment journey and growing connection with the Crimson Tide coaching staff.

As featured in BamaCentral’s Just a Minute video series — where Alabama beat writers share insights on Crimson Tide football and college sports — recruiting reporter Mason Woods and beat writer Joe Gaither sat down with Thomalla for a quick but revealing conversation.

Thomalla, a 2026 four-star quarterback from Omaha, Nebraska, committed to Alabama on June 17, flipping from Iowa State. He became the seventh overall pledge in the class and the first quarterback commitment under Kalen DeBoer. His commitment helped spark a recent wave of momentum for Alabama recruiting, with 12 new additions in the past month, bringing the 2026 class total to 17.

During the interview, Thomalla highlighted his strong bond with Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Nick Sheridan:

“He’s a real down-to-earth guy. Definitely a player’s coach. We get along great — he’s got a sense of humor but knows when it’s time to lock in.”

Thomalla also emphasized the consistent communication he’s had with Sheridan, head coach Kalen DeBoer, and offensive assistant Ryan Grubb throughout his recruitment:

“After Coach Grubb gave me the offer during a call with him and Coach Sheridan, they kept in contact nearly every day — FaceTime, calls, everything. That constant connection really made an impact on my decision.”

With Thomalla’s addition and several other high-profile commitments, Alabama is well-positioned to secure one of the top recruiting classes for 2026.
